John began playing French horn in his elementary school band in the fifth grade. A few years later, he started working with his father and grandmother at Gottschalk Music Center in Modesto. He followed high school by going to Modesto Junior College and graduating from CSU, Chico, with a Music Education degree. After teaching elementary band for a year in Modesto, he joined the family business full-time by managing a new Gottschalk Music Center location in Stockton. In 1992, he moved to Merced to manage and later purchase the Merced GMC. Today, he enjoys working at both the Merced and Clovis locations of GMC as well as playing the French horn in local groups.

Rick was introduced to music as a child through school music programs. He began playing guitar at 16 and drum set at 17. Rick has been performing in bands around the Central Valley since 1998. He has been working in music retail since 2001 and for Gottschalk Music Center since 2004. Rick can be found five days a week behind the counter of GMC in Merced helping musicians in the community or working on musical instruments.

Jeremy started his musical journey at the age of 9 when he began playing piano. After 4 years of experience, he then switched to drums and has been playing them ever since. At 14 (1992), He began working at his parents store, Clovis Music Center. When he was 19, he went to guitar tech school and immediately fell in love with guitars. After working 15 years at Clovis Music, he began managing Gottschalk Music Center Clovis since 2007.


Marcos started playing music at age 11 with private drum lessons. After which he went on to take up guitar at age 12 and marimba/various other percussion at the age of 13. He went on to tech for the Madera South High School/Desmond Middle School percussion programs from 2008-2010. He was a member of Propel Percussion and Sacramento Freelancers 2010 percussion ensembles. He joined the Gottschalk Music Center team in August of 2011 and is here to help you with all your musical needs.


Conner started playing music at age 9 in school band. His beginning instrument was the baritone horn; however, he soon picked up tuba, trombone, and string bass. He plays several other instruments as well. In college, as a euphonium performance major, he performed in the Wind Orchestra on euphonium and bass trombone. He played string bass in the Symphony Orchestra. As a member of the Jazz band his instruments were tenor trombone and bass trombone. He acted as trombone section leader in the Bulldog Marching Band for a couple years. He also played keyboard and electric bass in Bulldog Beat.

He began working at Gottschalk Music Center in 2008 after doing repairs out of a home shop since age 16. Bowed string repairs is his forte; whether it be a simple sound-post reset to a neck graft or peg job. However he is equally adept at brass work, specializing in restoration and custom work.
