Phil Brown is one of the most sought after trombonists in the Chicago area. He is also the Senior Product Manager of Low Brass with Conn-Selmer- maker of Bach trombones. He frequently performs with many fine orchestras and chamber ensembles. While he began his career as a performer, he found a strong passion for educating students.

Mr. Brown has maintained one of the largest teaching studios in the country, teaching over 70 private low brass students on a weekly basis. Over the years, many of his students have been members of the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra, recognized as one of the most prestigious youth orchestras in the world.
His students have gone on to study at Juilliard, Eastman School of Music, Indiana University, Northwestern University, and other prestigious music conservatories. Many of his students have become successful professional musicians and music educators.

In addition to his private studio, Mr. Brown regularly presents master classes and performances world-wide. He coaches brass ensembles and offers master-classes in brass performance, chamber music, brass pedagogy, and the history of Bach trombones. Mr. Brown was employed by the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra as a winds and brass coach, where he worked with chamber ensembles and led sectionals.

Phil Brown exclusively plays Bach trombones. He believes that there is no other brand that produces the special resonant sound of a Bach. Mr. Brown is grateful to have studied with Jay Friedman, Principal Trombonist of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, who insisted on him playing Bach trombones. It is clear through the success of Mr. Brown and his students that the instrument truly makes a difference.
