John Gottschalk
Bio: John began playing French horn in his elementary school band in the fifth grade. A few years later, he started working with his father and grandmother at Gottschalk Music Center in Modesto. He followed high school by going to Modesto Junior College and graduating from CSU, Chico, with a Music Education degree. After teaching elementary band for a year in Modesto, he joined the family business full-time by managing a new Gottschalk Music Center location in Stockton. In 1992, he moved to Merced to manage and later purchase the Merced GMC. Today, he enjoys working at both the Merced and Clovis locations of GMC as well as playing the French horn in local groups.

Rick Stokes

Bio: Rick was introduced to music as a child through school music programs. He began playing guitar at 16 and drum set at 17. Rick has been performing in bands around the Central Valley since 1998. He has been working in music retail since 2001 and for Gottschalk Music Center since 2004. Rick can be found five days a week behind the counter of GMC in Merced helping musicians in the community or working on musical instruments.

Matt Wilson

Bio: Matt has been a part of the Merced music programs for many years and has participated with several of the local band and music programs here in Merced. He has worked with many different groups including the Golden Valley Jazz Ensembles and Wind Ensembles as well as the Bulldog Marching Band and Fresno City Wind Orchestra playing his saxophone. Matt also works with DKP Entertainment, a local Mobile DJ service that does events here in the central valley such as school dances, weddings, fundraisers and much more. Matt strives to provide a service to musicians whether it is playing gigs or helping a customer find a product.

Kevin Wermers

Bio: Kevin started his musical journey by playing the trombone in his elementary school band program. Using his money from his paper route he purchased his first guitar at 8 years old. Kevin has been playing in various bands across the Central Valley; focusing as a rhythm guitarist and songwriter. Kevin attended the Academy of Art in San Francisco for music
production and is a recording engineer. Kevin can be found both at the guitar repair bench and around the sales floor helping musicians both create and record their music.

Jeremy Bergmann

Bio: Jeremy started his musical journey at the age of 9 when he began playing piano. After 4 years of experience, he then switched to drums and has been playing them ever since. At 14 (1992), He began working at his parents store, Clovis Music Center. When he was 19, he went to guitar tech school and immediately fell in love with guitars. After working 15 years at Clovis Music, he began managing Gottschalk Music Center Clovis since 2007.

Cheri Keller

Bio: Cheri's interest in music began in Elementary school with piano and clarinet and continued through High School and college. She has played in Modesto Jr. College's Community Band and Moband in Modesto. She is currently playing in the Fresno Community Concert Band and People's Church orchestra. She comes to Gottschalk Music Center from Miller Sheet Music where she was employed for 14 years learning about and selling printed music.

Marcos Zamora

Bio: Marcos started playing music at age 11 with private drum lessons. After which he went on to take up guitar at age 12 and marimba/various other percussion at the age of 13. He went on to tech for the Madera South High School/Desmond Middle School percussion programs from 2008-2010. He was a member of Propel Percussion and Sacramento Freelancers 2010 percussion ensembles. He joined the Gottschalk Music Center team in August of 2011 and is here to help you with all your musical needs.

Conner Habib

Bio: Conner started playing music at age 9 in school band. His beginning instrument was the baritone horn; however, he soon picked up tuba, trombone, and string bass. He plays several other instruments as well. In college, as a euphonium performance major, he performed in the Wind Orchestra on euphonium and bass trombone. He played string bass in the Symphony Orchestra. As a member of the Jazz band his instruments were tenor trombone and bass trombone. He acted as trombone section leader in the Bulldog Marching Band for a couple years. He also played keyboard and electric bass in Bulldog Beat.

He began working at Gottschalk Music Center in 2008 after doing repairs out of a home shop since age 16. Bowed string repairs is his forte; whether it be a simple sound-post reset to a neck graft or peg job. However he is equally adept at brass work, specializing in restoration and custom work.

Victoria Uresti

Bio: Vicky was first introduced to music in the 5th grade. She started playing flute and soon after learned how to play saxophone. She's always had an interest in music but it quickly took off with her involvement in band. She continued on both flute and saxophone until her college years where she played alto saxophone with the Fresno State Marching Band. Another accomplishment of Vicky’s was playing flute in the Fresno City Concert Band. She has dabbled in other performing arts throughout the years; such as musical theater and a Mexican dance troupe. Vicky started working for Gottschalk Music Center in August of 2013. Being interested and involved in different musical facets, Gottschalk Music Center offered her a way to work in an environment she enjoyed.
